Feedback at 5:00- Some NYC Students Offered "Morning-After-Pill"

Posted: Updated:

Some high school students in New York City will be able to go to the school nurse and get the morning-after-pill.

The New York City Department of Education says girls as young as 14 will be able to get the Plan B emergency contraception without parental consent.

Parents have been notified about the pilot program and how their daughters can opt out of it.

The city says about 7,000 girls get pregnant by the time they reach the age of 17. It says more than half choose to get an abortion.

While some students say it's a bad idea, others argue providing the pill does not encourage teen pregnancy, but prevents it.

For tonight's "Feedback at 5:00," would you support a program like this in your school district?
