Mason County Man Welcomes Fall with Giant Pumpkins

Posted: Updated:

Fall officially kicks off tomorrow, meaning pumpkins, apples, donut and cider.

For one Mason County man, growing pumpkins this year certainly wasn't easy. With the hot temperatures and dry conditions plenty of crops were feeling the heat.

But today, John Gancarz loaded up his parade float with 6 different pumpkins, weighing more than 200 pounds each.

Gancarz tows the pumpkins in the Scottville Harvest Festival parade and afterward gives them to his grandchildren.

Kalin Franks and Jeremy Erickson spent the day learning about the pumpkins and why John loves to grow them.
