Mesick Volunteer Coach Accused of Having Sex With a Student

Posted: Updated:

Shocking developments involving a Wexford County School -- a volunteer volleyball coach is accused of having sex with a student.

Tracie Monroe -- a volunteer coach for the Mesick J.V. Volleyball Team -- is accused of three different sex crimes against the teen boy, and giving alcohol to minors.

Court records show the sex crimes happened in late June at her home in Mesick.

The records indicate Monroe took advantage of her position of authority as a coach.

In fact, according to those files, the 17 year-old victim said he didn't want to have sex with Monroe, but she forced herself on him until he gave in.

She's also accused of supplying alcohol to the victim and another minor at her home.

Tracie isn't the only one facing charges -- her husband, Trevor Monroe -- the middle school track coach at Mesick -- is also charged with supplying alcohol to two minors.

And court documents show he's also facing a charge for possession of firearms, which is illegal because he's a felon, following a 1996 Breaking and Entering conviction.

Mesick's superintendent says three words describe his reaction to the alleged crime.

"Shocked. That adults that we trust would involve themselves and our students in this type of thing. Disappointed -- that anyone would make decisions like this. And angry, that somebody would do this to one of my kids," said Mike Corey, Superintendent for Mesick Consolidated Schools.

Corey added that they want to let the legal process take its course before making any decisions regarding the Monroe's, but that "their future here is looking pretty grim."

If Tracie Monroe is convicted, each of the three sex crimes carry a maximum of 20 years in prison.

9&10's Evan Dean and Photojournalist Jake Johnson stopped by the school today and have the story.
