Man Dies From West Nile Virus in Ogemaw County

There have been more than 160 confirmed cases of the disease in the state.

This is Michigan's 8th death.

Most of the confirmed cases are found in metro Detroit and southwest Michigan.

The most recent, deadly case has been the most northern, in Ogemaw County

The virus is spread from birds to humans by way of mosquito.

The early spring and hot summer fueled the spread of the virus and may set next spring up to be another bad year for west Nile as mosquitoes get ready to hibernate.
