FROST ADVISORY TONIGHT: Tips to Prepare Yourself

Posted: Updated:

If you're concerned about the frost threat, there are some things you can do to prepare.

Plant experts at Garden Goods in Traverse City say you should cover your plants with old sheets, damp newspapers, or with products specially designed to protect them from the frost.

Pansies and Mums are two types of flowers that can tolerate the cold very well.

Experts say you should focus on the high risk plants.

"I think it's more of the vegetable gardens or the sensitive annuals. Impatience or Begonias might be really susceptible to the cold, " says Julie Sovereign, the co-owner of Garden Goods.

Companies even make sprays you can cover the plants with that are supposed to protect against frost.
