UPDATE: Supreme Court Approves 3 Voter Initiatives for November Ballot

Posted: Updated:

We now have an update tonight on 3 voter initiatives that will appear on Michigan's November ballot.

Today, the State Supreme Court approved proposed amendments to the Michigan Constitution to strengthen collective bargaining rights, require statewide voter approval of new bridges or tunnels to Canada and require a two-thirds super majority in the legislature or a statewide vote to raise taxes.

But the justices turned down a proposed initiative to add 8 more casinos in Michigan.

They say the issue is that it fails to note that it would weaken the power of the state liquor control commission.
