UPDATE: Judge Temporarily Blocks Changes to Teacher Benefits

Posted: Updated:

We have an update for you this morning on changes to teacher pensions.

Tuesday, Gov. Snyder signed a law meaning teachers will pay more for their pensions.

Also yesterday, Ingham County Circuit Judge Rosemarie Aquilina temporarily blocked the law from going into full effect.

The injunction gives public school employees more time to decide whether to pay more toward pensions, accept a lower pension, freeze or switch them.

The original law required a decision from teachers by Oct. 26.

Now, there is a hearing on legal challenges from teachers' unions on Nov. 28.
