A Roscommon County elementary school will soon re-open more than two years after shutting its doors.
When Saint Helen Elementary closed community members fought for the state charter school cap to be lifted so the school could open.
On Thursday, crews were putting finishing touches on the parking lot and bringing in the lockers.
School organizers had to fix ten pages of code violation to get the building ready. That included installing a new fire safety system and paving a walkway by the emergency exits.
The Charlton Heston Academy opens on Tuesday. It will start with pre-kindergarten through 8th grade, adding a grade level every year through twelfth grade.
