World Trade Center Artifact Has Permanent Home in Grand Traverse County

Posted: Updated:

A piece of steel from a World Trade Center Tower now has its new home behind the Grand Traverse Metro Fire office.

The piece was recovered from the North Tower. The Department's been working on a Memorial Park for the artifact for a little more than a month. It's meant to be a place of reflection, and will include the names of all of the brave firefighters who died that day. Today, the heavy piece of the World Trade Center was lifted to its permanent place.

The Memorial should be finished by September 11th; but, Metro Fire still needs donations to complete the Memorial. You can purchase a brick to help with its completion.
