State's New Plate Features Mackinac Bridge

Posted: Updated:

Update:

Standing 552 feet above where Lake Huron and Lake Michigan come together, the Mackinac Bridge is a feat of engineering and a Michigan icon

Now she'll be seen by even more people... On a license plate.

Secretary of State Ruth Johnson unveiled two *new license plate designs today atop the south tower of the bridge, an updated standard plate, and a vibrant new design. Both include the state's "Pure Michigan" slogan.

The bridge plate will cost five dollars, which officials hope Michigan residents see as an investment in their state.

9&10's Kalin Franks and Eric Davis were above the straits and have more on the new plates.

11:00 AM- You're seeing them here first, these are the brand new Pure Michigan license plates.

One is a colorful view of the Mackinac Bridge, the other is a little more simple.

The plates will eventually replace the state's standard blue bar plate.

These new plates should be available to order early next year.
