Small Town Remembers Big Personality

Posted: Updated:

On the surface Lou Hadden was like many men from Northern Michigan. Hardworking, a dedicated family man who enjoyed hunting, fishing and was active in his community.

But Lou was far from ordinary.

Married to his high school sweetheart for 58 years, Lou and Shirley Hadden ran Topinabee Hardware. The saying in town, "If Lou didn't have it, you didn't need it."

For more than 30 years Hadden was a Topinabee Fire Department fixture, eventually becoming chief of the department.

Lou passed away on Sunday, today his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren remembered him.

9&10's Kalin Franks and Eric Davis spent the day talking with those who knew Lou.

Service for Lou Hadden will be held this Friday at the Berean Bible Church in Topinabee beginning a 9 AM until 1 PM.
