Feedback at 5:00- Religion Play Role in Contributing to Charities?

Just how generous you are may have something to do with how religious you are and where you live.

A new study suggests that states with the least religious residents are also the stingiest about giving money to charity.

States where religious participation is highest, particularly in the South, gave the greatest percentage of their discretionary income to charity.

The Northeast, with the lowest religious participation, was the least giving.

The study was based on IRS records of people who itemized deductions from 2008, the most recent year of available data.
