First Confirmed Case of West Nile in Horse Found in Montcalm County

Health officials confirmed that they found a case of West Nile virus in a horse in Stanton in Montcalm County.

It's the first case of West Nile in a horse in the state this year.

There have been other cases of people infected with the virus this year, but no one's died from it.

People should take caution to avoid mosquito bites, and to protect their animals as well.

The warm spring encouraged more mosquito activity this summer.
