UPDATE: U.S. Court Ruled District Court Lacked Jurisdiction in Vanderbilt Casino Case

Posted: Updated:

Today we have an update about the ongoing debate whether Vanderbilt Casino should stay closed.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the sixth circuit ruled that the district court lacked jurisdiction when they entered a preliminary injunction ordering Bay Mills to close their casino in Vanderbilt.

With this new decision, the district court's preliminary injunction is vacated.

A federal judge granted a preliminary injunction and ordered Bay Mills Indian Community to close their Vanderbilt Casino by noon March 29, 2011. The ruling meant the Vanderbilt Casino will have to remain closed until a final decision over its legality is reached in court.

Coming up on 9&10 News at 6, reporter Evan Dean will have the details on what this means for the Bay Mills Indian Community and how people are reacting to this decision in Vanderbilt.
