Demolition Starts Soon on One of Three Dams on Boardman River

Posted: Updated:

Demolition starts soon on 1 of 3 dams on the Boardman River.

It's all part of a project to bring back the river's historic flow pattern.

Today, Senator Carl Levin and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Director will be on site to kick off the project.

Removing the Brown Bridge Dam will restore more than a mile of riverfront and restore wetlands.

The $2.9 million project will include raising a 91-year-old powerhouse and removing thousands of tons of sediment.

It's scheduled to be done by the end of the year.
