Highland View Cemetery in Big Rapids in Mecosta County has had their share of vandalism this summer but they say nothing as offensive as finding 13 American Flags on the ground, Tuesday morning.
Every veteran at the cemetery has an American Flag and holder to represent their sacrifice. Tuesday morning staff noticed 13 of the brass flag holders were missing.
Cemetery Supervisor, Regina Geib hopes this was not meant as a vicious attack. She's asking the community to help find the holders or at least the culprits.
There's already been a stir throughout the community in response to the offensive crime.
Regina says they will buy new holders for the graves if the 130 year old ones aren't returned to honor and respect the veterans.
Anyone with information on the disappearance of the flag holders is asked to call police.
