UPDATE: Michigan Brothers Who Served 25 Years in Prison for Murder, Now Free

Posted: Updated:

Two Michigan brothers who served 25 years in prison for a murder, they say they didn't commit, are free this morning.

Thomas and Raymond Highers walked free around 8:00 last night.

The men were sentenced to life in prison in 1987 for killing a suspected Detroit drug dealer.

Last month, a judge in Wayne County ruled the Highers brothers will get a new trial after throwing out convictions for murder.

The case was reopened after a witness came forward saying the killers were black, but the Highers brothers are white.

The men will be re-tried but for now they are free on bond.
