Police Warn of Rental and Home Sales Scam in Northern Michigan

We've got a scam to warn you about involving rental properties and home sales in Northern Michigan.
Nigerian scammers have you fill out personal information online, then they contact you and say you are accepted, telling you if you send in a security deposit they will send you the keys.
The FBI says then people show up to move in, but the house isn't actually up for rent, and people, the actual homeowners, are living there already.
Bottom line: police say you need to keep your private information, private.
If you think you are being victimized in a scam, you should contact your local police.
