UPDATE: Escaped Suspect Now in Clare County Jail

Posted: Updated:

The man who escaped from a Clare County Deputy Friday afternoon is now in jail.

Charles Girardin escaped custody when a deputy tried arresting him near Harrison for outstanding warrants.

We're told Girardin kicked the deputy before getting away.

He turned himself in early Sunday morning and the Clare County Sheriff's Department says getting Girardin's name and face out on their new app helped pressure the man into turning himself in.

The app allows the Sheriff to send notices to the public, post crimes committed in the county, and then gives the people a voice directly to the sheriff himself.

Girardin now faces charges for assaulting a deputy and destruction of police property.
