A military family is coping with the loss of a young marine -- killed in Afghanistan earlier this week.
Marine Corporal Daniel Linnabary II was killed in action on Monday.
Daniel is from North Carolina, but many of his family members -- including his grandparents, Vernon and Carol Linnabary -- live in Northern Michigan.
Daniel had just started his first tour overseas.
And his family is no stranger to sacrifice -- with seven marines, and one soldier in all.
His grandparents say they aren't focusing on Daniel's tragic death... but rather, the precious moments they spent with him.
"Daniel was loved. Is loved. We'll never forget his smile. We'll never forget his laughter -- and his kind deeds," said Carol Linnabary, Daniel's grandmother.
Daniel leaves behind a wife, Chelsea, and a baby girl, Rosalie -- born earlier this summer.
