Native American Tribe Disputes

Posted: Updated:

New developments tonight on helping Native American tribes reunite land.

The Obama Administration says the Tribes do not have to reimburse the government for buying divided-up Tribal Land.

The land dividing is known as a fractionation and began in 1887 when the Federal Government split reservation land among individual tribe members.

The agency says property acquired for Tribes under the settlement will not be subject to liens by the Federal Government.
