Wexford Co. Prosecutor Candidate Loses by Six Votes, Wants Recount

Posted: Updated:

The Republican race for Wexford County Prosecutor came down to the wire Tuesday night and it may not be over yet.

Attorney Jason Elmore lost the election by just six votes. He plans to file for a recount in the race against his opponent Attorney Tony Badovinac. He received 2,779 votes, edging out Elmore's 2,773 votes.

Elmore said, "I think with the closeness of the race. The conditions of the optical scanners they used to scan in the false ratio that they have. I think it's worth doing it at least for those who helped support me."

Tony Badovinac released a statement saying, "Mr. Elmore has not contacted us since the results of the election were released, and therefore Mr. Elmore has not disclosed the grounds upon which he would base a petition for a recount. We will wait to hear from Mr. Elmore regarding the grounds upon which he is seeking a recount."
