Store Owners in Mt. Pleasant Cope With Shopping Center Fire

Posted: Updated:

The smoke's cleared -- but scars left behind by a fire at a Mt. Pleasant shopping center are plain to see.

Now, owners of the stores there are trying to come to grips with what's happened, and figure out what's next.

It's a story 9&10 News first broke last night.

A fast-moving fire tore through five businesses and a small church Tuesday afternoon on South Mission Street.

Flames sparked in the kitchen of the House of Hunan restaurant -- then quickly ripped through the rest of the building.

Store owners were on the scene again today, still trying to cope with the devastation.

"Its just pretty hard to look at it, man. I put so much hard work into it... and the day before I bought so much accessories, about a thousand dollars worth, swear to God. And I hooked it up that morning -- everything's down. I mean -- it's pretty hard to look at it, honestly," said Ali Bazzi, part owner of the Metro PCS store.

Metro PCS says they'll move to another location in town, but many store owners are still in the dark.

All of the businesses we spoke with have insurance.

9&10's Evan Dean and Photojournalist Joel Deaner stopped by the scene today, they have the story.
