Former CMU and Detroit Piston Drowned While Saving Wife

Former CMU Chippewa and Detroit Piston Dan Roundfield, drowned Monday off the coast of Aruba while trying to save his wife.

She had gotten caught in rough water off a protected reef area.

The three-time NBA All Star was swept away by a strong current as he tried to help his struggling wife.

The Coast Guard found his body 90 minutes later.

A nearby tourist helped Mrs. Roundfield to safety.

The 6 foot 8 forward center is Central Michigan's all time rebounding leader and played 11 professional seasons with Indiana, Atlanta, Detroit and Washington.
