Area Clerks and Polling Place Workers Met with Challenges on Primary Day

Posted: Updated:

When voters hit the polls today, some were surprised to learn they could only vote a straight ticket; either Republican or Democrat. Clerks say this resulted in some confusion for the voter, and required some explaining on the end of workers.  A Primary is meant to trim down candidates for November's election.

For polling place workers like Caroline Bagley, they're also getting used to some new technology. A new electronic poll book is being used at some Grand Traverse County precincts. Voter check-in is now all done by computer. At the end of the night, the list is printed off; a more accurate way to log voters' visits.
