Onekama Disincorporation Ballot Taken to Court

Posted: Updated:

Voters in one Manistee County community are deciding on potentially big changes that could get rid of a village.

The disincorporation vote to become part of Onekama Township is the main issue on tonight's ballot in both the village of Onekama and the township.

That ballot was taken to court yesterday.

A group against the disincorporation was upset with the township and village votes were combined together.

They say the village should be the only ones voting on the village issue.

A judge ruled in their favor and now the ballots are being separated at the polls.

9&10's Eric Lloyd spoke to both sides of the issue and has more details.
