Charlevoix Soldier Injured in Afghanistan for Second Time

Posted: Updated:

A Michigan soldier died and four Michigan soldiers are recovering after a roadside bomb exploded in Afghanistan Wednesday.

One of the injured soldiers is Staff Sergeant Troy Drebenstedt of Charlevoix.

The unit was clearing explosives when a bomb was detonated under their feet.

Incredibly, this is the second time Drebenstedt has been seriously injured in Afghanistan.

The Sergeant hurt his leg and shoulder in 2009 when his vehicle ran over a roadside bomb.

He is now on his way to Germany with shrapnel throughout his body.

9&10's Eric Lloyd photojournalist Tony Zyber spoke with the Drebenstedt's as they deal with their son's second more details.
