Almost 300 Michigan Schools Considered "Reward Schools"

Posted: Updated:

More than 280 schools in Michigan are now designated as reward schools.

That marks either "High Student Achievement" or "Making Tremendous Progress in Student Achievement."

Reward schools is 1 of 3 new designations that came as result of Michigan receiving flexibility to the Federal No Child Left Behind Act.

Reward schools include the top 5% on the annual top-to-bottom ranking of all Michigan schools and the top 5% that made the greatest academic progress over the last 4 years.

Priority schools are those in the bottom 5% and any high school with a graduation rate of less than 60% for 3 years in a row.
