Deputies Recover Missing Man's Body in Fife Lake

Posted: Updated:

It's a tragic ending to the mystery behind a missing man.

Grand Traverse County deputies found John McLeskey's body in Fife Lake this morning.

McLeskey planned to fish on Saturday night, but wasn't seen after that.

His girlfriend reported him missing Sunday evening.

The Sheriff's Department says they found his body not far from where they believe he launched his boat, and where they recovered his boat yesterday.

John's girlfriend of five years says when she heard the news -- her mind just went blank.

Now, she's remembering him as a man who loved to laugh... and as one who loved his family.

"I just think positive. That he's in a better place. You know... I will forever love him, and always miss him, and he'll always be in my heart," said Rajalla Hall, John's girlfriend.

John leaves behind three children -- including three-year-old Dereck Hall.

He and Rajalla also have a baby girl on the way.

9&10's Evan Dean has more on the tragedy.
