Man Says Someone Shot and Decapitated His Dog

A Crawford County man says he is heartbroken after someone killed his dog.

Be advised that some of the details in this story are very disturbing.

The owner says his dog Smokey was killed and decapitated on Saturday in Crawford County's Lovell's Township.

The man who owned the Pit Bull says the suspect is his adopted brother and they recently had a falling out.

Deputies say the suspect called the owner and said in a voicemail that since the dog was aggressive and it had to be "put down." He also admitted to returning the head of the dog to the owner for what he called a "remembrance."

The owner says the dog was never violent.

Since this weekend, the suspect has left the state. The case will soon be handed over to the prosecutor.
