They just became legal. Now, some local communities are banning commercial fireworks.
This year, Governor Snyder legalized fireworks that leave the ground known as commercial fireworks. Sales at firework stands and stores took off but, so did the number of complaints.
Mount Pleasant was the first to ban fireworks outside of holidays. Now, Union Township is looking to do the same.
Both communities in a hurry to get an ordinance in place before CMU college students come back in the fall.
