Food Prices Expected to Jump After Drought

MSU Extension says when the corn belt experiences dry conditions it impacts food prices, across the nation.

Many of the animals that make it to your dinner table, feed mostly on corn. And without a good corn crop, getting them to the plate will be more expensive.

The USDA expects the biggest price jump, in beef. You can expect to see a 4-5% increase, and in this economy a higher grocery bill can have a big impact

But there is a type of beef that could soon be easier on your wallet. Farmers say three years ago grass-fed cattle products exploded onto the market, but are often priced higher.

Now since they don't require corn it could actually become cheaper.

9&10's Kalin Franks and Eric Davis spent today looking into what beef could soon be more affordable.
