General Mills Lays Off 49 Hourly Workers in Reed City

One of the biggest employers in Osceola County is laying off 49 workers.

Yoplait in Reed City notified the hourly workers at the plant Wednesday morning. The transition will take place over the next 60 days.

General Mills says the move was made to align production systems to better meet current business needs.

The Reed City Area Chamber of Commerce is hopeful the jobs will come back because of recent investments in the plant.

We also reached out to union representatives for comment. They have not returned our calls.
