Fire Crews Train for Propane - Northern Michigan's News Leader

Fire Crews Train for Propane

Posted: Updated:

Tuesday night, fire crews learned how to battle propane emergencies in a real life catastrophic demonstration.   Michigan is the largest propane consumer in the US. So, first responders from Mason, Lake and Oceana County learned what to do when a propane emergency happens here in northern Michigan.

The goal of the night was to get fire crews trained on a variety of propane emergencies from a barbeque to a large tank.  They say it's all about becoming comfortable facing these types of fires.

The Michigan Propane Gas Association travels through the state creating catastrophic propane demonstrations for fire crews to train.

Crews at Tuesday night's training received tips and advice and are now certified in handling propane emergencies.
