Changes Coming to Traverse Area District Library for the Blind and Handicapped Community

Posted: Updated:

A local library will still offer services for the blind and handicapped community, but on a smaller scale.

The Traverse Area District Library has plans to shrink their book collection for the blind.

Now, the Michigan Commission For The Blind will mail most requests from Lansing.

The library's service area for the blind will cover 8 counties instead of 16.

They will provide a local lending collection of talking books and digital players to those who walk-in.

Now known as an Advocacy and Outreach Center, Traverse Area District Library will continue to provide specialized services at their main Woodmere location.
