Drought Costs Adding up for Businesses

Posted: Updated:

The cost of a nationwide drought is starting to add up for local businesses.

From lawn care services to anyone with a yard nearly everyone is feeling the impact.

The drought covers much of the country including some of northern Michigan. Clare County is one area that has been hit the hardest.

The Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home in downtown Clare has been running sprinklers almost non-stop to keep a professional appearance.

The area saw some rain Wednesday but not enough to make a significant impact.

The owner of Sod-Busters Lawn & Landscape Service says the drought is hurting his client's yards and business.

Sod-Busters has found other work to keep employees busy. Workers have been focusing more on mulching and landscaping projects.

9 and 10's Kyle Mitchell and photojournalist Jacob Johnson have more on the impact of the drought.
