Local Hospital Wins Technology Award

Posted: Updated:

When you think about what makes hospitals work, you probably picture doctors and nurses.

But good tools and technology improve their talents.

"Hospitals and Health Networks Magazine" honored McLaren Northern Michigan in Petoskey as one of the "Most Wired" hospitals in the nation.

In recent years McLaren has been working to become more digital, replacing traditional paper medical files with e-files, which help improve staff efficiency and patient safety.

Hospital president Reezie De Vet says such a major change wasn't easy but its a major step forward for the hospital.

Other qualities of a "Most Wired Hospital" include checking drug interactions and allergies, and stepped up security and privacy with patient information and records.
