Traverse City Building Evacuated Due to Strong Odor

Posted: Updated:

New information tonight on an issue at a Traverse City bank building that evacuated several employees.

The Hannah-Lay building on East Front Street houses Boyne Country Sports, and Northwestern Bank. The building was without power for about five hours today after a power meter in the basement went bad.

Employees at Northwestern bank noticed a strange smell around 9:00, this morning; they called the fire department. There was no smoke of flames, just the smell of something burning.

There were no injuries, and the equipment has been replaced.
