Traverse City Homeless Community Gets Relief from the Heat From Area Shelters

Posted: Updated:

Ryan Hannon works with Goodwill's Street Outreach Program. He spends hot days like today outside in the elements with the homeless community. It's their mission to keep the homeless protected from the heat, even if they don't have a way to escape from it.

The Goodwill Inn is a shelter for the homeless, and they're almost completely full. So, as a temporary way to cool down, there are some drop-in shelters to take a break from the heat; Hannon says that's been a big help for many.

The Goodwill Inn says with the combination of the growing homeless community, and the hot weather, they're in desperate need of hygiene items like deodorant, shampoo, and soap.
