On Thursday, July 12, a decision was made to enter into contract negotiations for the position of Superintendent of Cadillac Area Public Schools with Ms. Joann (Jo) Spry.
The Board of Education President, Mr. Craig Weidner, says through an extensive search and review process conducted by CAPS Board of Education and facilitated by the Michigan Association of School Boards, they chose the best suited candidate for the position.
Ms. Spry is the former Superintendent of St. Louis Public Schools.
The process to screen qualified candidates took the full commitment of the Board of Education since April and many hours of review of the three finalists.
The process included a series of interviews by the CAPS Board of Education and a thorough review of work experience, reference checks and fact finding.
Ms. Spry received excellent references and endorsements.
The CAPS Board of Education says they are confident that Spry will prove to be a thoughtful, diligent ambassador and leader for CAPS and members of the Cadillac community.
