Youth Academy Gives Kids Opportunity to Solve Crimes

Posted: Updated:

Plenty of kids grow up saying they want to be a police officer when they grow up.

In one Northern Michigan town, they get to test their skills at an early age.

The Clare County Police Department has a group of youngsters attending its two week long Youth Police Academy at Clare High School.

The academy sets up crime scenes for kids to collect evidence and solve crimes.

The curious kids can also learn laws, police procedures and how the court system works.

Today, the kids got to meet Swiper the police dog.

It's only $10 to attend and runs Monday to Friday, through next week.
