Meals on Wheels Delivers More Than Food

The hot and sticky weather can make anybody feel miserable.

But what about people confined to their home?

Most people will find a way to beat this heat, but for some senior citizens, they just aren't able to get around and do what they need to cool down.

That's when a volunteer organization like Meals on Wheels expands their role well passed food delivery.

Every volunteer is handed a checklist to make sure their clients are safe and will be until the next day's visit.

It's important for seniors to use a fan or air conditioner and to drink plenty of water, even if you feel okay.

9&10's Eric Lloyd and photojournalist Tony Zyber tagged along with a pair of volunteers and have more details.
