Groundbreaking for 9-11 Memorial in Traverse City

Posted: Updated:

An unforgettable day in American history--we'll have a permanent memorial in Traverse city.

Groundbreaking started today for the 9-11 Memorial Park behind the Grand Traverse Metro Fire Department's Administration Building.

It will be made out of a piece of steel recovered from the North Tower of the World Trade Center.

The memorial is meant to be a place of reflection, solace, and remembrance--and will include the names of all the brave firefighters who died that day.

The first phase of the memorial project will be finished by September 11th, this year.

If you would like to make a donation to the memorial, check out their website link.
