Posted: Updated:

The Michigan National Guard is conducting its largest air and ground training exercise in the state's history.

The training is taking place at the Grayling Air Gunnery Range in the southern part of Otsego County.

The two weeks of training brought in 17 units from nine states along with soldiers from Latvia and Canada.

Service men and women went through a variety of scenarios including rescuing a downed pilot. Ground teams also pointed lasers at targets guiding in 500 pound bombs.

The training will continue on the range through July 20th.

9 and 10's Kyle Mitchell and photojournalist Tony Zyber give us a closer look at the training.
