Volunteers Help to Bring the National Cherry Festival Through Another Year

Posted: Updated:

Every year for about the past ten years, Sandy Lindley has marked off the National Cherry Festival on her calendar. She's a volunteer here, but she's known as a festival Ambassador, a fancy way to say she's a big help.

From people like Sandy, to a young couple; Kris and Heidi Wood, they all have a very important job here. The pair has volunteered for the past five years. They say their inspiration is fellow volunteers who have donated their time for many years.

From serving up cherry goodies, to welcoming people to the Cherry Capital, they're a festival staple. If you see them rushing around, they would probably enjoy hearing, "thank you".

Reporting in Traverse City, Sara Simnitch and Photojournalist, Jeremy Erickson.
