Girlfriend Charged in Heroin Overdose Death

Posted: Updated:

More than a year after a local man died of a heroin overdose, his former girlfriend is charged in his death.

21-year-old Michael Everett died in Beulah in Benzie County last March.  The Traverse Narcotics Team and Benzie County Sheriff's Department spent the last year investigating, and charged Lisa Woodhall for Everett's death on Tuesday. She's considered a fugitive and police want her caught.

Michael Everett had no criminal history of drug use, that's why his family was shocked to hear the cause of his death.

A co-worker found Michael's body, and Lisa Woodhall inside their home.  Police can only speculate why Woodhall did not call 911, but they want her held accountable for her part in Michael's death.

There is a warrant out for Lisa Woodhall in the connection with Michael Everett's death.

If you know where she is or any details regarding Michael's death you're asked to call the Traverse Narcotics team or the Benzie County Sheriff's Department.

9&10's Ann Marie LaFlamme and photojournalist Joel Deaner have the family's reaction to the charge.

Michael's family asks that donations for his headstone be sent to:
