Team RV Brings Formation Flying to Cherry Festival Air Show

Posted: Updated:

First build your own airplane. Then you get it in the air. But that is where the challenge begins ... You have to find your wingman, get close, and maintain your speed.

This is Team RV.

High above Grand Traverse Bay, Team RV is rehearsing for their part in the National Cherry Festival Air Show this weekend.

We joined the worlds largest Air Show team for the morning.

These experienced pilots fly in tight formations and complete amazing aerobatics-- requiring incredible strength and precision.

Even when they get back on ground, the work for Team RV is never over, they say they're always striving to be better.

As we cruised over the gorgeous shoreline on a hot summer morning, its easy to see these pilots have a passion for what they do.

Today, 9&10's Kalin Franks and photojournalist Jeremy Erickson took to the sky over Grand Traverse Bay for some formation flying.
