Traverse City Business Increase

Posted: Updated:

Murdick's fudge in Traverse City has been making the Northern Michigan sweet staple for 48 years and says business has definitely picked up this week.

Traffic in Traverse City has been near gridlock around hotels, restaurants, and souvenir shops.

The Bear Company T-shirt shops say they are seeing several hundred customers everyday and constantly re-ordering merchandise.

One fireworks vendor in Traverse City says sales have also tripled due to the new state law allowing more powerful fireworks.

Aerial fireworks were illegal last year.

That included items like bottle rockets or mortars of any size.

You must be 18 years of age to buy the fireworks and it is still illegal to use them under the influence of alcohol.

Firefighters are asking everyone to follow firework directions closely and never let children use them unsupervised.

Many business owners say they will do more than 70 percent of their business in July and August.
