UPDATE: Two Intermediate Schools Become One

Posted: Updated:

Two intermediate school districts are now one, after sharing resources for years.

Last month, the Mason-Lake ISD school board voted to absorb the Oceana ISD and it's three school districts.

The state superintendent approved the decision and the merger became officially yesterday.

The decision met strong opposition from people in Oceana County.

That's because their taxes go up by one and a half mills, and the school board voted unanimously without a public vote.

The ISD's say the move will help maximize resources and expand vocational school opportunities for its students.
