Region's Grapes Ahead of Schedule, Vineyards Plan for Early Harvest

The rough spring weather may have devastated the cherry and apple crops, but even through those warm, March days, the grape vines maintained their usual schedule. The frost didn't hurt, either.

Many vineyards say this is shaping up to be their best summer in more than 20 years. The lack of rain isn't a major concern, and the warm weather is helping boost the growth. Since the grapes are growing so quickly, vineyards will have more time to harvest.
